Sure, you can perform root on Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 easily but what if you want a pre-rooted ROM that is also de-odexed? Yes, an xda forum member has unveiled a ROM that is stock and deodexed. He has kept it stock and there are no added tweaks other than root.
There are many ways to root the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 but the one that we recommend using in ICS (Android 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich) is a little bit different from the one we recommended earlier – http://galaxytabreview.com/2-7-0-root/. So, if you are on ICS and want to root, follow these instructions.

You must install some sort of recovery software to flash any custom ROM / firmware. The one we recommend is ClockworkMod Recovery. Here are the instructions on how to perform ClockworkMod Recovery:
* Power your device off
* Boot into Download-Mode by pressing Volume down + Power
* Hit Volume down to accept the warning
* Start Odin
* Choose “GT-P31XX_ClockworkMod-Recovery_X.X.X.X.tar” as PDA
* Connect your Tablet
* Start flashing
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (P3100, P3113) is the first tablet that has enjoyed such widespread popularity. The main reason behind this is the fact that it is the first compact tablet so reasonably priced and with fully functional phone. Do not mistake this with the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 root as that is a totally different tablet. Without further delay, here is the rooting guide for Galaxy Tab 2 7.0:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is the cheapest branded tablet in the market that also allows you to make calls. The company is now all set to offer it in Canada, where it would run for 250 CAD, which is same as what it costs in US and somewhat higher than its UK retail price.
Samsung galaxy tab 2 is a great tablet, but to do things like overclocking, underclocking and to gain system access, you will need to root your tablet. This method allows you to do just that. It has been tested on GT-P5113, GT-P5100 and GT-P5110 and it has be done using a Windows PC only. At this moment, there is no Mac or Linux compatibility. Follow these directions to root it.
First download these:
1. Odin3-v1.85_3.zip
2. recovery.tar.md5
3. cwm-root-gtab2.zip NOTE: GT-P5100 & GT-P5110 use alternate file: cwm-root-gtab2a.zip
We also suggest installing Samsung Kies now if you have done so already. Download it from here.
Copy cwm-root-gtab2.zip (or cwm-root-gtab2a.zip) to the root of your Tab’s sd card (the external one). Now, turn it off and start it in download mode. Do this by holding the Power and Volume UP/RIGHT buttons at the same time. A yellow triangle will appear – press the volume down button to continue into the download mode (ODIN).
STEP 2: Make sure KIES is closed and not running. Extract Odin3 v1.85.exe and run it.
STEP 3: Connect the tablet to your computer. In Odin, click the PDA button. Select the recovery.tar.md5 file you downloaded and click the START button. Let Odin install the files. When it’s done installing CWM the box turns GREEN and tablet will reboot.

O2 UK is now selling SIM free version of the original galaxy tab on their website and that too at just 300 pounds. This is clearly the best price for the P1000 tab we have seen so far. True, it was a bit over priced back when it was launched but now it looking like a perfect buy at 300 pounds.
Samsung is all set to release the updated version of 10.1 tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia. Optus will be the first Australian network provider to offer it and it will be released on June 18, 2012. You will be able to get it under both Consumer and SMB plans. Today, Samsung has added four T-mobile phones to the list that includes two aforementioned tablets.
