Root Galaxy Tab S6 – Rooting guide for Samsung Tab S6 SM-t860

Root Galaxy Tab S6

First, download stock firmware for your Tab S6 and store it on your computer. You can easily find it on Sammobile or samfirmware’s tool. Once you have downloaded the stock firmware, extract it and copy the file that starts with AP_XXXXXXXX to your Galaxy Tab S6.

Download latest version of Magisk Manager and install it on your Galaxy Tab S6. Open it > Install > select and patch file > find the file you copied earlier (AP_XXXXXXXXX). Let it patch the whole file. This will be stored in /Download/magisk_patched.tar.

Copy this patched file back to your computer. Download latest version of ODIN and extract this to your computer.

Now, unlock bootloader. Go to Settings > About Tablet > Software information and tap on build number many times to enable developer options. In Developer Options > OEM unlocking > Enable it.

Switch off your Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 and reboot to download mode (volume up + volume down together). Now connect Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 to your computer using official cable. When device is in download mode > long press volume up again to unlock bootloader. This will delete everything stored on your Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 and reboot it.

Re-enable developer options > OEM unlock should now be grayed out.

Now, put Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 in download mode again. Connect to computer and fire up ODIN. Selected magisk_patched.tar file that we copied earlier in AP tab. For BL, CP and CSC, use stock firmware files. Uncheck Auto Reboot from options in ODIN.

Start flashing and you will soon see a PASS sign. Disconnect Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 from your computer. Press volume down + side key to exit download mode. Immediately when Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 reboots and screen turns off, press volume + side key boot into recovery partition. Keep the volume up button pressed and you will now see stock recovery screen.

In this screen, make use of volume buttons on your Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 to navigate through menus and power button to select. Select factory reset / wipe data to delete everything. Reboot system now and immediately press volume up + side key, you will now be greeted with bootloader warning screen. Now, you can release all buttons and this will boot you into the OS.

That is it. You have now rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab S6. You should also now see Magisk Manager in app drawer. If now, download and install APK from link given in earlier part of this post.
