Samsung might have left the Galaxy Tab 7.7 in the cold by not endowing them with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean treatment but that did not stop ROM developers at XDA to bring Jelly bean to the Tab 7.7. There is a CM10-based firmware that also introduces true tablet mode.
An XDA member, romswell has released a pre-rooted firmware for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 that is also deodexed and Zipaligned. The ROM comes with Super SU and Busybox (for running root apps) installed as well. He has made two versions of it – one for the P3100 users and another of the P3113 users.

Samsung is yet to release official Jelly Bean firmware upgrade for the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and 7.0 but has already released source files for Jelly bean operating system to the developers and public. This is extremely weird as Samsung normally releases these files after they have pushed OTA updates to its users. After Jelly bean Android 4.1 was released for the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, an OTA that upgrades the Tab 2 10.1 users from ICS to Jelly bean has also been made available, thanks to Sammobile. However, to flash this OTA, you must be on the latest firmware and be on Samsung’s stock recovery. Go to Settings; check the version if it is P5113UEBLH3 or not. If not, you are on latest official firmware.

Samsung South Africa has announced that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 can now be updated to Android 4.0 ICS in SA. The company has been silent on its plans in South in rolling out updates for its tabs and phones. MTN has told us that while Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be receiving ICS update, it will not be upgraded to Jelly Bean which is Android 4.1.
