Xda forums rescued the long abandoned Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 community to get the Android 15 when it was released and now, Android 16 is available for the Tab S6 in form of Lineage OS 23. To flash it, you need bootloader unlocked.
Also, you need to be on latest stock firmware. If you are not, download one from the from samfw. Of course, as expected, you will also need a custom recovery like TWRP to flash the custom ROM that gives you Android 16.
Here are the flashing instructions to get Android 16 on the Galaxy Tab S6.
- Extract the Stock firmware. Also, download the Android 16 custom ROM from here.
- Move AP file to an Android Device and Patch file with the Magisk app (doesnt need to be rooted).
- Move new patched AP version from Downloads directory back to PC.
- Reboot Download Mode by holding all 3 buttons while USB plugged in.
- Flash stock ROM with modded AP, Stock BL and CSC (not CSC Home) via Odin/Download Mode.
- When it gets to PRODUCT – its about to reboot – Press and Hold all 3 buttons to go back to Download mode.
- Flash TWRP to AP Slot via Odin – as it reboots:
- Hold Vol Up & Power while Odin Reboots to go straight into TWRP.
- Perform Full Wipe and Format Data
- Format System
- Reboot to TWRP – Copy the GSI .img to your tablet via USB.
- In TWRP – Install – Image – Select the GSI img – to “System”
- Reboot to System – (Will warn that no OS is installed – though its a false positive)
